Travelling to North Cyprus
The simplest way to travel to North Cyprus from abroad is to travel to Ercan airport, which is located on the outskirts of Nicosia, about 20km from Cyprus International University. All international flights to Ercan require a stop in Turkey, usually Istanbul, and you may need to transfer aircraft. Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and Atlas Global offer flights to Ercan from a wide range of international locations. Once you arrive at Ercan, taxis are available to complete your journey. Citizens of EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other nations are given a free 90 day visitor visas when they arrive in North Cyprus. However, citizens of other countries may be required to apply for visas in advance. If you are unsure whether you will require a visa, please the TRNC Representative or the Turkish Embassy in your own country prior to departure.
It is also possible to travel to North Cyprus via airports in the Republic of Cyprus. Larnaca airport is served by a wide range of international flights and is located about 60 km from the border between North Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus. Entry visas to the Republic of Cyprus are required for citizens of certain countries. Please check with your nearest Republic of Cyprus Embassy prior to departure. In Larnaca a shuttle bus service near the terminal is available to transport you to the main bus station in Nicosia, and once in Nicosia you can take a taxi to complete your journey. You will also be required to show your passport at the border between the Republic of Cyprus and North Cyprus. Again, citizens of some countries may be required to obtain a North Cyprus visa prior to arrival. If you are unsure whether you will require a visa, please the TRNC Representative or the Turkish Embassy in your own country.
