New Student Pick-Ups

Welcome to Cyprus International University!

Student Meetings and Orientation Days, which have been organized since the day of the establishment of Cyprus International University, aims to introduce the newly enrolled students the University, University Life and the TRNC more closely. Within the scope of the program, which starts with welcoming the students and their parents from abroad at Ercan Airport or Girne Harbour, orientation trips about the TRNC, fun concerts and various presentations about the units of the university are organized. It contributes to making it easier for new students to adapt to their educational life by laying the groundwork for organizing many activities aimed at ensuring the integration of existing and new students.

After students settled in Cyprus International University after completing their registrations from the Registration and Liaison Offices in Turkey or from the Student’s Registrar’s Office;

  • Register to be met at Ercan Airport or the ports by filling in the New Student Reception Application Form, which can be downloaded from the Registration and Liaison Offices or from here,
  • Review the Orientation Handbook that will guide you through Academic Programs and Services before the 2019-2020 Academic Year begins,
  • Please visit www.icisleri.gov.ct.tr for guidance and necessary documents for immigration procedures,
  • Download the Orientation Program for more information about the Fall Semester Welcoming and Orientation Program!
Meetings and Orientation Programs are specific to the students who will start the university.
Reception dates are from 9 September to 9 October 2019. We will also try to help our students who provide information apart from the specified dates.
During the New Student Pick-ups and Orientations Days, while our students are enrolled in the university, they will find out more about the university, university life and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Each year, within the scope of the New Student Meetings and Orientation Program, a group of undergraduate students serve as a resource and peer counsellors to the new students and their family members to help implement the program.

North Cyprus, known as the small pearl of the Mediterranean, is an island with its rich history, diverse culture and natural beauty. There are six districts in the TRNC. These are Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, Morphou, Iskele and Lefke.

Climate: At least 300 days a year, with sunny and open weather conditions and the warm weather, Cyprus provides an ideal environment for education. Mediterranean climate prevails in Cyprus. The summers are warm and dry, while the winters are warm and rainy. The average annual precipitation is 500 mm. Average temperatures vary between 20-30 ° C in summer and 5-15 ° C in winter.

Electricity: The electricity in the TRNC is the same as in Turkey and it is 220 / 240V A / C 50Hz and three-pronged plugs are used. In order to use all kinds of electric equipments easily, adapters which convert twin sockets to triple sockets, can be found at all the supermarkets easily and cheaply.

Traffic: In North Cyprus, traffic flows from the left lane.

Language: Official language is Turkish. However, the language spoken by the public has a Turkish Cypriot dialect.

Time: UTC +3 in the summer and UTC +2 in the winter are used in the TRNC.

Currency Unit: The currency in circulation is the Turkish Lira.

Telephone: TRNC phone codes are +90 or 0090. For land lines, the code is +392.

Public Transportation: One of the public transportation methods you can use for daily transportation is buses. You can find these transportations in each city at the bus terminals in your area or from the points on the itinerary.

Postal Code: Postal code '99010' must be added at the end of the address for international mail
