Applications for the CIU Pedagogical Formation Education Certificate Program

Applications have begun for the Cyprus International University (CIU) 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Pedagogical Formation Education Certificate Program.

Within the scope of the program that is located within the Department of Educational Sciences, formation training is provided to students who have not yet graduated from Education Faculties, however, would like to begin teaching.

Explaining that the program will be organized over 2 semesters, over the spring and summer semesters, CIU Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences Chair Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman advised that the students will take in total 10 courses in order to gain the formation of teaching.

Highlighting that the new academic year is to begin on 14th February, Silman stated that TRNC citizens and all teacher candidates who will work in the TRNC and have graduated from an undergraduate department may make an application for the Pedagogical Formation Education Certificate Program.

Explaining that within the scope of the program, the students will be provided with all kinds of educational technologies, which is based on research and a productive educational process, Prof. Dr. Silman noted that their aim is to raise teaching candidates, who have gained effective teaching behaviors, know teaching principles and methods, have a student-centered understanding, are able to orient students towards learning and research, who have adopted an interdisciplinary approach, are respectful towards socio-cultural differences, who do not discriminate between individuals based on religion, language, or individual characteristics, and respect individual and social values.

Silman underlined that applications are made online upon the official website, and reminded that student candidates that have graduated from the 4-year department that isn’t connected to Education Faculties, must have graduated with at least an average of 2.00.
