Artificial Intelligence might Displace Some Jobs
Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi from the Faculty of Engineering of Cyprus International University (CIU) stated that artificial intelligence applications will become more prominent both in the business world and in our daily lives in the coming years, and said, "With the use of artificial intelligence in the business world, production costs will decrease and better quality products and services will be offered."
Pointing out that with artificial intelligence applications, robots can be of help in areas such as fruit/vegetable harvesting, as voice assistant, in cleaning, private security and even production. Çelebi said, “The vehicles can be used autonomously in traffic; in the health sector, they will support diagnosis by using the patient's radiology images and other data or even provide diagnostic information.”
Çelebi also warned that many jobs will disappear with the development of artificial intelligence and said, "But on the other hand, new business areas will be created."
Çelebi pointed out that using artificial intelligence in the coming years will be inevitable, and added, "Those who cannot use artificial intelligence will be evaluated in a similar category as those who do not use computers in their business and daily life, or who do not use tractors in the agriculture sector."
Çelebi stated that artificial intelligence is basically trained with the principle of "similar event patterns come up with similar results" in the light of the information given to it, and therefore provides the appropriate answer according to the problem given to it, "Only Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) systems can be used with big data they are trained on. They have the ability to produce original content. GAI can create a text, sound, picture and even video that doesn't actually exist, and can write a computer program.”
Expressing that with this method, one can compose or design an outfit according to one's style, Çelebi said, “Therefore, innovations can be created in the field of art. In the medical and scientific fields, it will be possible to discover drugs that do not exist in reality."
Çelebi also said that there are things to be considered regarding artificial intelligence, and shared the information, "Especially with GAI, inappropriate audio, picture and video content that does not actually exist can be created, people can be misled, and creation of misleading AI-generated content
will affect the election results that will determine the fate of a country."
For this reason, Çelebi underlined that the consequences of GAI can be dangerous and unlimited, and added that many developed countries have already started making laws on this matter.
