“The 11th Traditional Book Meeting Time” held at Büyük Han in Nicosia every year took place on social media this year. In addition to the university's students, academic and administrative staff, many CIU graduates and also booklovers met at the book reading event.

CIU Library Director Gülten Sala Lay stated that they want to experience the nostalgic taste of the books in the book reading event, and "Book lovers from many age groups from 7 to 77 attended our event".

Lay pointed out that in addition to TRNC and Turkey, book lovers from Canada, England, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Scotland, China, Pakistan, and the United States attended the event, and added "during this process, the most enjoyable and educational thing to do is to read. I wish the event organized via social media would revive the habit of reading books and they gave books as gifts with this event”.

There have been colorful scenes during the event every year, and it is aimed to remind people that reading books is the most important bridge to access information.

Emanuel Adewusi, the President of the Library Club, mentioned that they held the event to remind the young generation and raise awareness about the importance of reading in the event.

Kübra Nane, a third-year student of the Department of English Language Teaching, participated in the event and said that they held the book reading activity in a different format from the previous years: “It was a very nice activity that gave us a sense of warmth these days when we are stressed in our homes. With this activity, our whole family read a book and had a good time for the first time. We have also created awareness with our activity not only in our school but also in many parts of Turkey other countries. By sharing our photos on social media, we explained that the conditions we are in do not prevent us from doing the things we enjoy”.
