Career opportunities for pharmacists were discussed at CIU
An online seminar titled ‘Career Opportunities for Pharmacists’ was organized for Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Pharmacy Students.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Kemal Buharalıoğlu from the field of pharmacology, gave information in relation to how students may plan their professional journeys by improving themselves, reading extensively, using examples from mythology and the classics, aside to the known career opportunities in the field of pharmacy.
Stating during the seminar that at every stage of career building a "mentor" relationship is important, Buharalıoğlu pointed to the benefits of the young individuals gaining from the experiences of what we call guiding or protective individuals.
Sharing detailed information in relation to pharmaceutical pharmacy, academic careers, public pharmacy, industrial pharmacy and similar pharmacies, Prof. Dr. Buharalıoğlu reminded students that there are different career options.
Sharing some sincere examples from his own career journey with the students, Buharalıoğlu advised that while drawing their career lines, young individuals should not be afraid of making mistakes, and to adopt an open-minded approach to every opinion.
Emphasizing that work and career are not the same thing, Buharalıoğlu elaborated, "When the job we do is done with love, a career can emerge”.
Expressing that quality of work is important, especially in the highly dynamic pharmacy profession, Buharalıoğlu noted that in the career of development there are different steps, and the students are currently on the first step of "Discovering and Experimentation".
Stating that it is at this stage that the students have made their initial trials and choices, Prof. Dr. Buharalıoğlu concluded, "It is important at this point that they ask for the help of experienced mentors".
