CIU celebrates medical workers' Health Day
Prof. Dr. Güldal Mehmetçik, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Cyprus International University (CIU) celebrated the Medical Day of employees working in the health sector and said, "it is my greatest wish that a system in which universal values are at the forefront in our country and where the rights of physicians and patients are prioritized will be established."
The Medical Day is being celebrated since March 14, 1919, when the doctors performing the most difficult and sacred professions in occupied İstanbul, this day emerged as the defense movement of their country.
Mehmetçik added that they celebrate March 14th, the Medical Day with great pride and excitement in the first year of the establishment of the CIU Faculty of Medicine, and “it is the greatest aim of our faculty to train valuable physicians in the field of health for such a holy duty”.
It was stated that the white coat is a symbol of honesty, brightness, nobility, purity, wisdom, humility, responsibility and serving all people for the profession of medicine and “as CIU Faculty of Medicine, we are having the joy of starting education this year to train physicians who will fulfill one of the honorable professions valuing human and humanity, its history starting with the history of humanity, deep-rooted and honorable,” said Mehmetçik.
She also underlined that a healthy life is the fundamental right of every person and “it should be the necessity of social state understanding to maximize health services and secure public health.”
In her statement, Prof. Dr. Mehmetçik emphasized the importance of raising awareness of the communities not only in the treatment of diseases but also in public health and healthy life. She celebrated March 14th, the Medical Day of health workers aiming to keep people alive and reduce their pain, offer a better life quality to humanity and fulfill their profession with great devotion.
