CIU continues to certify the quality of its academic programs

Cyprus International University (CIU) continues its national and international accreditation efforts with its high-level understanding of quality in education.

CIU has been attaching great importance to continuous improvement and cooperation/collaboration activities since its establishment, and maintains new accreditation processes active in addition to the renewal of existing accreditations. In this context, the relevant programs of the University were accredited by the Association For Evaluation and Accreditation of University Programs In Mathematical, Natural And Social Sciences of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences, Faculties of Language and History-Geography (FEDEK) and the International Business Administration Accreditation Agency (FIBAA).

The Psychology (English) undergraduate program of CIU Faculty of Arts and Sciences was granted 5-year accreditation as a result of its application to FEDEK in 2023-24 Academic Year.

Additionally, as a result of the applications made to FIBAA in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Public Relations and Advertising (English) and Visual Communication Design (English) undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Communication were accredited for the first time for a 5-year period, while the Tourism and Hotel Management (English) undergraduate program was re-accredited for a 7-year period.

The Accounting and Finance and International Relations programs in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences were previously accredited; the Management Information Systems program in the School of Applied Sciences also gained the right to be accredited again for a duration of 7 years.

CIU Accreditation Advisory Board President Prof. Dr. Derviş Zihni Deniz stated that in addition to YÖDAK ( Higher education planning, evaluation, accreditation and coordination Council)
and YÖK (Council of Higher Education) accreditations, CIU is continuously working to have all its programs accredited by national and international accreditation agencies covering professional fields. He also noted that this means CIU is providing quality assurance not only to the field of education but also to graduates, society and employers.

Deniz stated that many programs of CIU have been accredited since the university has  fulfilled the accreditation criteria and conditions required by national and international accreditation organizations such as EPDAD, FEDEK, ILAD, MİAK, MÜDEK, SABAK, FIBAA, AHPGS, PEARSON-ASSURED regarding higher education.

Deniz pointed out that quality assurance systems should be operated in higher education that internalize the culture of quality at universities, and pointed out that quality assurance should be systematically examined and improved in order to meet certain standards and criteria.

Deniz stated that higher education institutions should work towards continuous improvement in every field and said, “These studies should also be carried out in accordance with the standards of national and international quality assurance institutions, and these standards are also closely followed at CIU.”
