The CIU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies is ready for the academic year
Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Dean Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baktır, stating that agriculture is the oldest occupation on earth, pointed to the importance of education in this field.
Expressing that it is not possible for humans to survive without air, water, and food, Baktır went on to advise, “It is for this reason that we must protect our environment that has been entrusted in us, to the highest degree, and our main duty is to pass it on to future generations, as we received it”.
Reminding that at this point, agriculture and agricultural education come into play as a priority, Prof. Dr. Baktır continued, “In a geography such as Cyprus, where the ecology presents unique blessings, it is important that we protect natural assets, while providing our society with reliable foods of high quality, via the means of environmentally friendly agricultural practices”.
In this context, Baktır drew attention to the fact that among their priorities, students preparing for university should prioritize choosing agricultural education and faculties of agriculture, drawing attention to the privileged education of the CIU Faculty of Agriculture, with relation to the opportunities it offers, its expert staff, and the areas of application.
Emphasizing that as the CIU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, their main mission is to train agricultural engineers who think universally, question, and offer alternative solutions to problems, Prof. Dr. Baktır went on to advise, "Until this date, none of our graduates are unemployed."
Expressing that graduates are initially preferred by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the private sector, Baktır continued, "In other words, we train sought after agricultural engineers, and of this we are proud."
Stating that due to the COVID-19 epidemic across the world that has been experienced in the last two years, the importance of agriculture has become apparent once again, Baktır added, “COVID-19 has physically demonstrated how important agricultural education is”.
Stating that he would like to give a message to student candidates, Baktır concluded, “If you do not want to be unemployed and you want to put your future under guarantee, your first address should be the CIU Faculty of Agriculture and Technologies”.
