CIU Faculty of Dentistry is awaiting the future dentists
The Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Dentistry, that covers a number of majors, such as Oral and Outer Jaw (Maxillofacial) Radiology, Oral and Outer Jaw (Maxillofacial) Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Prosthetic Dentistry, and Restorative Dentistry, is awaiting its new students from the TRNC and international students, for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
CIU Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Ömer Engin Bulut, stated that as a faculty their aim in light of universal values, is to raise dentists who are equipped with the information, skills, and capabilities, required by the country and humanity; using scientifically based information together with quality and patient safety standards, in order to improve the oral and dental health of the society; to be rational, questioning, tolerant, innovative, and creative; take responsibility in serving the community; and who adhere to ethical values.
Stating that the Faculty of Dentistry theoretical courses are held in a number of modern lecture halls that are suitable for digital sharing and remote online education, Bulut advised that they also have two dental preclinical laboratories that each have a capacity for at least 30 students, which are used for basic education during the first three years of education.
Explaining that especially prior to going to the clinic as a trainee doctor, the 3rd grade students receive training with 30 models and equipment within the phantom patient simulation laboratory, Prof. Dr. Bulut went on to say, "As well as these, there are 34 dental units and 1 local operating room within our integrated clinic, that belongs to 8 departments, where clinical studies are carried out".
Stating that within the Faculty of Dentistry they work with quite a number of Academic Staff who are experts in their fields, who have a lot of field experience in basic and clinical training, Bulut continued, "With our Faculty of Medicine Academic Staff, who have contributed to our basic medical education, we have aimed to present the requirements of modern medical education in the best way possible."
Noting that graduating students can work as freelance dentists within their own clinics, Prof. Dr. Bulut also reminded that they can also work in various hospitals or polyclinics.
Drawing attention to the fact that graduates have the option of doing a specialization or doctorate within the departments that make up the dentistry program, Bulut went on to conclude, “Following their specialization or doctoral education, they may continue as lecturers at universities. Additionally, they may work in hospitals and polyclinics or as bureaucrats, in connection with the Ministry of Health. They can also perform duties within the product development departments of companies who produce dental materials”.
