CIU Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture hosted Expert Architect Emre Arolat
Cyprus International University (CIU), Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture hosted Emre Arolat, who leads workshops in Architecture Faculties in a variety of Turkey's universities, has worked as a project jury member, received an award for the 2006 Dalaman Airport project from the international "AR Awards for Emerging Architecture" and is an Aga Khan Architecture Award recipient.
The event which was held online due to the Covid-19 epidemic, was moderated by CIU Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara.
Drawing attention to the topic of success in his speech, Architect Emre Arolat went on to say, “It is more valuable for one to see themselves with this consistency rather than acquiring this label from outside. I think the measurement of this should come from within”.
Reminding that people should not question themselves about how people react in the face of work produced, Arolat said that it is necessary to go beyond all these and to sweat hard for what you desire and not to be easily overwhelmed by obstacles.
“Islamic Philosophy has always attracted my attention”
In his speech, Arolat stated that Islamic philosophy has always attracted his attention, giving information on the Sancaklar Mosque, which he was the architect of.
Explaining that there is a general scheme with relation to the architecture of mosques, which is not changeable, Arolat advised that he created this work by modernizing traditional lines.
Also in relation to the Sancaklar Mosque Architect Emre Arolat expressed “My most important starting point was that the area of worship in our religion can be clean and the mosque not having any specific shape”.
