2nd grade students of the Faculty of Medicine presented their posters they designed in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak to the jury members, at the event held at the CIU Faculty of Medicine building.

Stating that the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has affected the whole world since December 2019 and has continued unabated for more than a whole year are still continuing, CIU Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Seyer advised that they therefore want to carry out activity studies on this matter.

Stating that such activities are organized in order to contribute to the students' medical education, the literature reviews they will conduct, their application of research methods and their presentation skills, Seyer went on to say, “accessing and analyzing the most up-to-date information present within the scientific literature in relation to this global health problem, our students converted the data they obtained into posters, while simultaneously contributing their intellectual capacities and personal development skills”.

Pointing out that the students prepared the posters under three separate headings, Assist. Prof. Dr. Seyer stated that the first posters were in relation to COVID-19 vaccines, the second posters about the effectiveness of the drugs used in the treatment of COVID-19, and the third posters were about the inflammation and cellular immune response triggered by SARS-CoV-2.

Sayer explained that the posters in relation to the COVID-19 vaccines, which are currently a very popular subject, displayed comparisons of vaccines currently in use, with Seyer further elaborating, "In the second posters about the COVID-19 treatment methods, the effectiveness of antiviral, antiparasitic drugs and convalescent plasma technique used in treatment were compared”.

Reminding that the third poster is associated with the inflammation triggered by SARS-CoV-2 and the resulting immune response, Assist. Prof. Dr. Seyer stated that discussed in detail in these posters were the pathogenesis, inflammation and cellular immune response issues.

The posters on the COVID-19 vaccines subject won first place, after receiving the highest score from the evaluations made by the jury members. The winning group were presented their first prize by CIU Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri.
