CIU hosted “TRNC inter-high school knowledge-skills competition”
"TRNC Inter-High School Knowledge-Skills Competition" was organized in cooperation with Cyprus International University (CIU) Hair Care and Beauty Services Program and the Ministry of National Education.
In the event held in the conference hall of CIU Çevik Uraz Center, students of Atatürk Vocational High School, Famagusta Vocational High School, Güzelyurt Vocational High School and Karpaz Vocational High School competed in the bridal hair design and bridal make-up categories
In the competition hosted by CIU, among the attendees were the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Ministry of National Education Vocational Technical Education Department Director Gülşen Hocanın, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, CIU Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkay Özgör, academicians and students.
In his opening speech, the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu pointed out that the great need in the country for professional expertise which indicates the importance of educating the youth in a well-qualified manner.
Congratulating the efforts of the Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services of Cyprus International University to improve the quality of services in this field, Çavuşoğlu expressed his satisfaction for the opportunity the university provided to young people by organizing the competition hence giving the youth the chance to display their skills and perhaps seize future opportunities.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also stated that it is not enough to help students earn their degrees but, “We must train them with the qualifications needed in the market. For that matter, I attach great importance to the competition held here today.”
At the end of his speech, Çavuşoğlu also addressed the students, and said, "My advice to our students is to complete their education at the level required by the market as quickly as possible and to follow the developments in the world and compete accordingly."
In his speech, CIU Rector Prof. Dr Halil Nadiri stated that the importance of vocational education is continuing to increase day by day and thanked all the students who participated in the competition for their courage. Pointing out that the competition is an important opportunity for young people to showcase their creativity and skills, Nadiri noted that within the scope of the competition, students not only display their skills but also have the chance to express themselves.
Addressing the students who participated in this competition, Nadiri said, “As you progress on this path, I hope you continue to develop your talents and realize your dreams. Such events are important in revealing the potential of our youth and in giving them full support."
Chairperson of the CIU Hair Care and Beauty Services Program Dr. Vali Gjinali reminded that they have been hosting similar events for years and expressed their satisfaction in holding such activities.
Pointing out that the students created very beautiful designs this year as they had done in the past, Gjinali said, "Our aim is to continue such activities and thus contribute more to the creative development of the students."
After the opening speeches, the students showcased their skills in bridal hair and make-up. During the event, CIU students also organized a photo gallery consisting of bridal hair and makeup images dating from previous events.
