CIU published a message within the scope of 1st August, Social Resistance Day
Cyprus International University (CIU) published a message within the scope of 1st August Social Resistance Day celebrated, due to the Security Forces Commands (GKK) 45th, Turkish Resistance Organizations (TMT) 63rd, and the conquering of Cyprus’ 450th anniversary.
In the message published by the CIU Public Relations and Corporate Communications Directorate (PRCCD), stating that the 1st August is an important date in the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle for peace and independence, it was expressed that the Turkish Cypriots ensured their social coexistence with their success in their historical struggle for existence.
In the message that emphasized that Cyprus was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1571, and remained under Ottoman rule for centuries, upon the condition that they leave the island, during the Ottoman-Russian War, England rented the island from the Ottoman Empire, however by the end of World War II, they still had not left Cyprus.
Drawing attention in the message to the fact that in later periods, efforts were made for a joint administration between the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots, it was reminded that over time, the efforts between the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots turned into conflict.
Expressing in the message that the Turkish Cypriots were forced to organize against this approach of the Greek Cypriots, beginning a social struggle, it was stated that for this reason, TMT was actually established on the date of 1st August 1958.
In the message that was published by CIU PRCCD, explaining that with the establishment of GKK on the 1st August 1976, a more secure environment was enabled for Turkish Cypriots in the country, with the anniversary of these 3 important events, a happy 1st August Social Resistance Day was wished for all of our people.
