CIU returns from GASTROANTALYA 2021 with 6 gold and 2 silver medals
CIU School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students, won 8 medals in a number of different categories at the GASTROANTALYA 2021 Gastronomy Food Competition that was organized between 25-27 November 2021 in Antalya.
At the competition that was organized with the collaboration between the World Association of Chefs Society (WACS) and The Turkey Cooks and Chefs Association (TCCA) saw 5 CIU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students win 6 gold and 2 silver medals from 6 different categories.
Competing within the main course, fish course, dessert plate, university team competition and the golden young chef of the year categories, Mehmet Güvener won a gold medal in the main course category, and again in the same category Taha Doğan won the silver medal, while within the fish course category Emir Kürtül won the gold medal and Süheyla Dilek also won the gold medal in the dessert plate category.
At the same time, representing CIU in the Best University Team of the Year category, Emir Kürtül, Mehmet Güvener and Taha Doğan won the gold medal.
Competing within the golden chef of the year category, Doğukan Furkan Abacı won the silver medal.
Director of the School of Tourism and Hotel and Management Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ, stating that WACS is a global network of chef associations, including associations from 86 different countries, where the international membership is dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of culinary standards within global cuisine via education, training, and professional development, expressed his satisfaction with the outstanding success that was achieved by the students, which were as a result of their professional education and disciplined work ethic.
