CIU SPES hosts Turkish mountaineer, writer, and photographer Mahruki and academician Prof. Dr. Karaküçük
During a webinar that was moderated by CIU School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selman Özdemir, Turkish mountaineer, writer, and photographer, Nasuh Mahruki and Ankara Gazi University, School of Physical Education and Sports Academic Staff, Prof. Dr. Suat Karaküçük were hosted.
Karaküçük: “It is in our hands during our lives or after, to leave behind a good life story”
Speaking during the event titled “Your Life is Your Biggest Adventure” Prof. Dr. Karaküçük stated that Mahruki, who is one of the founding members of the Search and Rescue Association (SRA), in addition to his number of successes, is a role model for our young people, and with his protection of the environment, he is an example for young people who wish to stand by people and animals in need.
Expressing that individuals should live their lives to the full, Karaküçük went on to say,” It is without a doubt in our own hands during our lives or after, to leave behind a good life story. To achieve this, strong willpower is necessary”.
For those who will transform their life stories into a valuable story, drawing attention to the concepts of multiculturalism and social sensitivity that complement each other, Karaküçük noted that all these concepts are past concepts that are intertwined.
Mahruki: “Your life is your biggest adventure”
Starting his speech by speaking about his 7th book, “Climb your own Everest”, Mahruki went on to state “With my 50-year old awareness, this piece of work was an adventure that I shared with people and society”.
Advising that it is said that the age of 50 is the age of wisdom, Mahruki continued, “As someone at the age of wisdom and who has lived life to the fullest, the message I have to give is: Your life is your biggest adventure".
Expressing that he had a lot of pleasure during his lifetime, Mahruki noted “The secret lays within an individual knowing themselves and being aware of their skills. Everyone finding their own reality, by knowing and discovering themselves”.
Stating that nature and mountain sports present amazing benefits for individuals during his speech, Mahruki added that in order for individuals to be successful in risky and dangerous sports, they put themselves through differing difficulties and take risks, and that therefore they experienced an internal awareness.
Explaining that travelling has a maturing factor to it, Mahruki concluded, “I have seen almost 100 countries. By the age of 27, I saw the 7 continents. Travelling contributed as much to me as mountaineering”.
