CIU Students visited the abandoned City of Varosha
CIU Department of International Relations Students organized a trip to the abandoned City of Varosha
Cyprus International University (CIU) Department of International Relations students organized a technical trip to the closed Maraş Region in Famagusta within the scope of their courses "International Organizations" and "International Law."
Chair of the Department of International Relations Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Direkli noted that during the technical trip gave the students the opportunity to get to learn about Maraş which holds an important place in the Cyprus issue.
Stating that they had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the security forces stationed in Maraş where the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) has an office. Direkli stated that the students benefited greatly from this visit.
Direkli also stated that this technical trip was organized in the context of activities to enhance CIU student personal development and said, “Our students had a good field study environment related to their education.”
Chair of the Department Direkli stated that the students who participated in the trip made useful observations which they will use in their courses and also had a pleasant time.
