The CIU Women’s Handball Team are ready for the new season

Cyprus International University (CIU) Women’s Handball Team, leaving a successful season behind them, have begun to prepare for the new season.

By winning 5 out of 5 cups within the senior women’s league, the CIU Women's Handball Team achieved a first in the history of the handball federation reminded their Coach Tarkan Kayaş, who went on to say, “By obtaining the Cyprus Turkish Sports Writers Association (KTSYD) cup, the Derviş Mişon Cup, the Federation Cup, Super League Championship and President's Cup Championship, we broke a record”.

Expressing that they have begun the new season motivated, Kayaş continued, “We have begun with strength training, and we are waiting for 3 foreign players from abroad to join our team”.

Drawing attention to the fact that despite beginning the league very well, due to the Covid-19 related curfews, they were negatively affected psychologically, Kayaş advised “We continued our work online with our athletes. We tried to build up our psychologies as much as we could”.

Explaining that it was a difficult process, Kayaş elaborated, “However, the same conditions were in place for all the teams. Everyone found it difficult. I hope this year will be the end of the pandemic and our athletes are able to perform sporting activities in healthier conditions”.

Tarkan Kayaş stated that their goal in the new year is the same as in each year, to achieve the championship in each of the cups, and noted, “It is not easy to obtain success, however, it is even more difficult to protect that success”.

Stating that their goal this new season is to get 5 out of cups again, Kayaş concluded, “By getting these cups, we plan to add a record to our record. By working well and preparing well, I believe we will succeed”.
