CIU’s pride: Gastronomy Students

Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts of Cyprus International University (CIU), School of Tourism and Hotel Management, organized an award ceremony for the students who won medals in many different categories at the GASTROANTALYA 2022 Gastronomy Food Competition held in Antalya.

The ceremony was held at the CIU Graduate Sciences and Education Center with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mete Boyacı, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Abdullah Öztoprak, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, Vice Rectors and academics in attendance.

In his speech, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mete Boyacı stated that he has always believed in the students’ achieving outstanding results in this competition, and added that  thanks to the students he felt honored and would always stand by the students. Expressing that the students of the Department of Gastronomy contributed significantly to the achievements recorded by the university.  Boyacı also noted that he is confident that the studies carried out are continuously developing in line with their goals. 

Rector Nadiri, on the other hand, reminded that such events are organized every year to celebrate the achievements of students, and stated that the students will continue to be the pride of CIU with the high level of success they will demonstrate in their professional life after graduation. Pointing out that the most important part of the knowledge gained through the achievements at the university is sustainability, Nadiri said, “Keep our university informed of your future achievements. The university will continue to be proud of you.”

After the speeches, Boyacı and Öztoprak presented certificates to the winners while Nadiri presented the certificates of appreciation to School of Tourism and Hotel Management Lecturers İbrahim Kızıltaç, Kardelen Üntaç and Esat Kastambollu.
