Creative Writers Received certificates at CIU
Certificates were given to the high-achieving students in the Creative Writing Education Program organized in cooperation with Cyprus International University Continuing Education Center (CIU-CEC) and the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education.
In the program that lasted for a total of six weeks, CIU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gürkan Doğan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Dr. Metin Karadağ, Education Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Mihrican Aylanç, Salamis Ayşegül Şentuğ, Emrah Öztürk, Fatih Yalıner and Senem Gökel were the trainers.
Following the closure of the Education Program, poet Arif Albayrak was among the invitees to the certificate awarding ceremony.
Doğan delivered the opening speech of the ceremony, and said, "Not a single thing was left out in the training carried out in this adventure we indulged in as regards creative writing; today, everything we have learned, seen, felt will culminate with this ceremony.” Doğan conveyed his thanks to the teachers who were part of this program as well as those who contributed to the process, and congratulated the students who participated in this program.
Albayrak, who was a guest at the ceremony, said, “I am very happy because of the value given to culture and art in my country and in the universities.” After his speech, Doğan presented a certificate of appreciation to Albayrak, who recited his poetry and gave a musical performance.
The program continued with selections from “living in the story” which consisted of texts produced by students in the creative writing education practices. After the readings, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Abdullah Öztoprak presented a certificate of appreciation to the academicians and artists who provided training in the program.
At the ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gürkan Doğan, Chairperson of the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Kayhan, and Education Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Mihrican Aylanç presented the certificates of participation to the students who successfully completed the Creative Writing Education,
The ceremony ended with a Cinevision screening prepared to mark the 2022-2023 Creative Writing Education Program.
