Faculty of Law is ready to welcome the new incoming students

Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Law established in the 2010-2011 Academic Year has continued to grow and has gained recognition both nationally and internationally as one of the best Faculty of Law in the TRNC.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Tunç, Dean of the CIU Faculty of Law, reminded that their faculty was chosen as the best faculty of law in the TRNC based on the evaluations made by the Turkish Bar Association, and also said that they are a member of the EU Law Faculties Association (ELFA).

Pointing out that as a result of their discussions with the Nigerian Law School, it was determined that the basic courses required for Nigerian Bar education were available at CIU Law (English) programs, Tunç noted that for this reason, it was decided to facilitate the admission of students graduating from the program to Bar 1 education in Nigeria.

Tunç stated that there are two undergraduate programs offered within the Faculty, namely Law and International Law, and their aim is to prepare and train students who have the knowledge, skills and characteristics required by legal science, who have developed verbal skills, who have internalized legal knowledge, methods and techniques, who can think creatively, critically, and who can use information and communication technologies.

Tunç said that it is their aim to produce graduates as individuals who can integrate technology in contemporary legal education,  who can use technological developments and technological knowledge in line with legal knowledge.  "For this reason, we broke new ground between Turkish and TRNC Law Faculties and included 'Legal profession entrance exam' preparation courses to our curriculum as of the 2021-2022 Academic Year."

Tunç also stated that they started mock court practices in virtual courtrooms so that students can practice the theoretical knowledge they have learned in classes, and said, "Thus, we contribute to our students preparing themselves for the profession by taking on various roles such as defendant, plaintiff, judge and prosecutor."

Tunç reiterated that, as CIU Faculty of Law, they organize symposiums and career days every academic term for students and said, "This way, we give our students the opportunity to present their own research."

In his statement, Tunç also pointed out that they were the only Faculty of Law from the TRNC that participated in the Young Criminal Lawyers Congress, which gave the opportunity to present student research.

Dr. Tunç also provided information about the application and admissions process to the faculty, stating that TRNC nationals who have graduated from TRNC high schools and Turkish citizens who have completed all of their high school education in the TRNC can apply to all programs based on  their Student Placement and Scholarship Ranking Exam Results or their diploma grade averages. Candidate students who have GCE A'Level, GCE AS Level, IGCSE-GCSE O'Level exam results have the right to be admitted to all programs.
