In the female’s category CIU, and in the men’s category GG become champions
Hosted by the Cyprus International University (CIU) CIU Arena, in the Derviş Mişon Handball Final Cup, CIU in the women's category and Gençlik Gücü (GG) in the men's category become champions.
The excitement of the 2020-2021 season in handball started with the tournament held in memory of the late national handball player Derviş Mişon and was played without an audience due to the pandemic measures.
The Derviş Mişon Handball Cup women's final was held between CIU and Şahlan Sports Club, while the final in the men's league was held between the GG and CIU teams.
“The finale was the scene of great competition”
Tarkan Kayaş, Deputy Sports Director of CIU Sports Affairs Directorate, reminded that the tournament was held in memory of former national handball player Derviş Mişon, who passed away in 2004, and said that they officially opened the handball season.
Expressing that there was a fierce fight in the tournament, Kayaş said that while CIU became the champion in the women's category, they were defeated by a small difference in the men’s category.
Stating that they are happy to host such events at the CIU Arena Sports Complex, Kayaş said that they will continue to hold the tournament every three weeks in the upcoming period.
