The importance of technology increased during the pandemic process
Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Engineering Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Öykü Akaydın, speaking within the scope of 8-14th March, Science and Technology Week, indicated that due to the Covid-19 outbreak across the world, the importance of science and technology has increased.
Stating that as in all areas, the fields of work and education were also greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Akaydın went on to remind that due to the scope of measures applied, many workplaces and schools were closed, with remote working and education implemented.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Akaydın stated that thanks to the digital solutions applied within this process, work in both the fields of business and education were able to continue, thus making the working and education process of workers and students easier.
Drawing attention to the importance of technology when it comes to accessing information resources and reaching it, Akaydın stated that in this process, the system was used in the best way.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Akaydın went on to state, "While this developing application technology was still utilized based on preference, today it has become a necessity”. Akaydın said that this situation has developed a rapid increase in the interest towards cloud technology, along with the demand to work/learn online with cloud-based video conferencing. Akaydın stated that companies providing such cloud services have increased their capacities in order to create a safe learning environment for students and have initiated the “Online Classroom” application, which is offered for free.
Explaining that in an effort to keep internal and external company interaction at the highest level, the opportunity to hold free and unlimited meetings via audio and video conferences was made available, Akaydın concluded, “In addition to remote work/training, which is common in our country, cloud computing, algorithms, artificial intelligence, big data analysis, technologies such as the internet, were widely used during the pandemic process across the world”.
