Innovative Approaches in Nursing Discussed
The School of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing at Cyprus International University organized a seminar titled “Nurses as Pioneers of Change: Making a Difference Through Innovative Approaches” as part of Nursing Week activities.
The seminar, held at the Faculty of Health Sciences of CIU, attracted strong participation from academics and students. Delivering the opening speech of the program, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Hatice Sütçü emphasized the importance of scientific production and innovative approaches in the development of the nursing profession. She stated that bringing students together with experts in the field provides great value for their professional development. During the event, Head of the Nursing Department Prof. Dr. Fatma Eker delivered evaluations within the framework of the 2026 theme of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), “Our Nurses, Our Future: Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies.” Eker discussed the role of nursing within healthcare systems and its contributions to patient safety and quality of care.
The seminar speaker, Prof. Dr. Arzu Özcan İlçe, shared current studies related to innovation in nursing, artificial intelligence-supported applications, digital health technologies, patient and employee safety, and personalized care models in her presentation titled “Nurses as Pioneers of Change: Making a Difference Through Innovative Approaches.” İlçe stated that technology is playing an increasingly important role in healthcare services and emphasized that artificial intelligence applications make significant contributions to preventing complications, improving the quality of care, and increasing efficiency in healthcare services. She also stressed that nursing is not only a profession that provides care services, but also a powerful discipline that transforms healthcare systems.
The seminar, which attracted significant interest from students, concluded with a question-and-answer session, the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Arzu Özcan İlçe, and a group photograph session.
