TÜBİTAK Project Training Held at CIU
A workshop titled “From Research Idea to Fundable Project: TÜBİTAK Project Proposal Preparation and Evaluation Workshop” was organized by the Faculty of Education at Cyprus International University. The event aimed to contribute to the project development processes of academics and researchers, providing comprehensive information on preparing successful project proposals for TÜBİTAK calls.
Delivering the opening speech of the workshop, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova stated that universities are not only institutions that produce theoretical knowledge, but also gain value through projects that transform this knowledge into social and technological benefits. Emphasizing the importance of originality, methodological consistency, and widespread impact in the project development process of research, Tanova noted that the university continues its efforts to strengthen its research culture. He also announced that the Technology Transfer Office has become operational within the university and will support researchers throughout project processes.
Speaking during the event, Prof. Dr. Salih Çepni highlighted the importance of a strong conceptual and theoretical framework in project development processes. Stressing that originality is a determining factor in scientific research, Çepni stated that interdisciplinary collaborations and teamwork have become fundamental components of today’s research culture.
The workshop also addressed TÜBİTAK project types, key considerations in project writing, methodological alignment, innovation, and widespread impact. During a session conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmühan Ormancı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Kaçar, participants were informed about the proper and ethical use of artificial intelligence tools in the project writing process.
In the practical section of the program, participants had the opportunity to work on their own project ideas and received consultancy support regarding the preparation of TÜBİTAK project proposals.
